Frequently Asked Questions

How is the due date calculated from LMP?

Using Naegele's Rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period. This assumes a regular 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14. The actual delivery date is within ±2 weeks in most cases.

What if my cycle is irregular?

Naegele's Rule works best for regular 28-day cycles. If your cycle is irregular, the conception date method or early ultrasound dating is more accurate. Your OB-GYN may adjust the due date after the first ultrasound.

What do the trimesters mean?

Trimester 1: weeks 1–13 (organ formation), Trimester 2: weeks 14–27 (growth and movement), Trimester 3: weeks 28–40 (final development). Each trimester has different screening tests and developmental milestones.
